My blued eyed, green eyed, and brown eyed girl..

So, when I was making that slideshow for Wes, I had to dig through a ton of pictures. I knew Grace's eyes had slowly turned to the beauitful color that they are today, but I hadn't rememebered just how long it took them to change color. Hunter's pretty much went from blue to brown in a matter of weeks. Grace transformation, much like Grace herself, was longer and more complicated. Like always, you can double click on the pictures to seem them larger.

BLUE-GREEN (the color I thought they would stay as it is similar to mine)

White Trash Wednesday #11

I have been so excited to share this one with all of you. I love having friends who've got my back. So Lori, she was with us at the waffle house during that installment of WTW, snapped this amazing picture for me. Well, she really snapped it for herslef, but has given it to me to share with all of you. She was on her way back to Dallas after picking her son up from a visit at Granny's house. Somewhere along Interstate 30, a little bit East of Dallas, she spotted this sign. Looks like somebody had a little fun rearranging the letters. I love how they were kind enough not to steal the extra letters, but instead left them all bunched up in the right hand corner of the sign. I also love that they had to use a kreativ spelling for one of the words as there were no more "k"s but they had an extra "c".

When is Gracie day?

This is the question Grace asked me last night. I was confused for a moment. Then I told her that when she was a Mama, she would be celebrated on Mother's Day and that when Hunter was a daddy he would be celebrtaed on Father's Day...which brings me to today's post. Sunday was Father's Day and so I thought today would be a great time to talk about Wes, the man I chose to be the father of my children.

When Wes and I met he had already been married before and had a son, Hudson, from his first marriage. I can remember thinking, "Oh boy...I am too young to be with a guy who comes with a kid." But...I kept on seeing him and falling in love with him..Then I met his son...And when I saw the way he interacted with Hudson, when I saw how much he loved that little boy...Well, it just made me fall more in love with Wes. I couldn't have picked a more perfect man for me, which is why I truly believe that God chose him for my life. I couldn't have picked a more perfect father for our children, which is once again why I believe God chose him to be their father.

So, I've put together a little slideshow, which I think says more than I can possibly say. Thank you Wes for being a stand up guy. Thank you for providing for us, for nurturing us, and for loving us with all that you have. Thank you for giving us a reason to celebrate. We love you.

School is Over & The Kids are Another Year Older

Grace had her last day of school on May 29th. She had some really awesome teachers this past year and I'm so glad that she has been able to attend Kingdom Kids. They had an end of the year party and I also brought cupcakes for Grace's birthday since she's a Summer birthday. Her teacher brought out a facke cake with candles while the class sang happyu birthday to her so she could blow out some candles. It was very cute.

On Grace's last day of school she was playing with a baby that her teacher was holding. Her teacher said, "Gracie, you need to tell your Mom and Dad that you need a baby at your house." Grace said, "NOPE! My daddy's gettin' snipped!" She was right..The next morning Wes and I headed to see Dr. Pickens for his vasectomy. I got to watch the procedure which I thought from a nursing student perspective would be pretty cool. It was really pretty boring. It's a very bittersweet feeling--knowing that there won't be anymore babies in our house, but I'm excited about this next chapter of our lives.

So, Saturday we had some friends over for the kids birthday's. We had given them the choice of each having a party or getting a trampoline to share for their birthdays instead. They chose the trampoline..And as luck would have it, they ended up with a bit of a party as well. Since Daddy had an icepack between his legs and strict orders not to lift anything over 5 pounds, Don and Tim were kind enough to come over and put the trampoline together. I made tacos, cupcakes, and pina colada's. We all had a great time hanging out that night. Wes was in and out as the pain meds made him awfully tired, but I think Dakota enjoyed snuggling with her buddy. She slept for several hours that night and let her Mommy party with the big girls for a while.

Grace was so excited to open her Barbie.

Check out the look on her face when she realized it was a hoochie mama Barbie. LMAO!

Hunter was just as happy to thicken his wallet.

Thank you so much to the Owens, Moore's and Butler's for making it such a fun night. We are blessed to have such an awesome group of friends for ourselves and our children.

Thursday, June 5th was Hunter's last day of school. He was also blessed with an awesome teacher this year. Mrs. Hensley was sooo awesome. I really can't say enough good things about her. She was the prefect match for Hunter. This year was pretty cool too, because Hunter met his best friend Demaris this year. They played on the same football team and were in the same class at school, and have a bond that I can see lasting for many years to come. I can't believe my baby boy is 8 and headed to the 3rd grade. The yeras seem to get shorter and shorter as time flies on by.

And as promised, we took Hunter to get his haircut once school was out. MISD doesn't allow mohawks or designs in hair..Hunter wanted both. Our little princess also decided she wanted a new do. I'm going to miss Hunter's shaggy look, but he certainly looks cool with his new cut. And Grace!!! OH-MY-GOSH!!! I freaking LOVE her new haircut!

Memorial Day Weekend

WOW! We had a super busy jam paked fun filled weekend. On Friday night, we headed over to the Moore's house to hang out. The grown ups decided to take the boat out for some late night fishing. So, we had a babysitter come watch all of our kids at their house. We got out on the lake at about midnight, and stayed until around 3:00 a.m. I hadn't been on a boat since I was 18, and quite frankly it scared the crap outta me. Wes' minnows kept disappearing off of his line by a sneaky fish. At one point, Tim needed some help with a net he was throwing in the water. So, Wes asked Susan to hold his fishing pole. About a minute later, she says she thinks his line is tangled in the net. Then she says, "Nevermind!" as she realizes it was was a fish pulling on it. She starts to reel it in. That's when Wes jumped across the boat almost knocking Susan over, grabbed the pole from her, and reeled in his fish. Of course, they are still debating on who caught the fish.

Me enjoying myself as we coast along in the water

On Saturday morning, I had to get up and take the kiddos to their friend Caleb's birthday party in Rockwall. They were surprising well behaved considering Grace had stayed up past 2:00 in the morning and Hunter was up until around 4:00 a.m. On the way to the party, Wes' dad called to tell me that some of our family from Mississippi was in town. So, that afternoon we went to Wes' parents house to visit with Aunt Pat, Uncle David, and cousin Matt.

We got home and everyone took a longggggg nap. That evening, the Moore's came over to our house to hang out. Wes decided he wanted to drink, which he NEVER does..He got pretty silly before finally calling it a night.

Then on Sunday, we headed over to the Owens house for an official Memorial Day cook out. The kiddos played in the sprinklers, jumped on the trampoline, and drank their usual 500 Capri Suns. The grown ups chowed down on steaks, ribs, and other yummys. We also got out the blender and played some washers.

Sprinkler fun...

Monday, Wes borrowed his dad's boat, and the Moore's loaded up their boat for a trip to Lake Ray Hubbard. Grace and Demaris (Hunter's best friend) had never been on a boat before. The kids had a blast. They were all brave enough to swim in the water too. I was a nervous wreck worrying about them since there were so many boaters out that day. We all had a good time though.

Deep Ellum Photo Shoot

Well, all the pics are in from the photo shoot of Hunter and Grace. I really love them and can't wait to get some ordered and hung on our walls. You can see the complete photo shoot here.

WTW #10

I know people. I'm way behind. I promised you some good white trash last week, and didn't come thrugh. And here it is Thursday, and you must be wondering where all of your white trash is. This week I have a lovely picture taken at Kidfish, along with a public service announcement.

PSA: If your butt looks like this, please do not use an ice chest as a chair. You may frighten a young child, and not only that but all of that heat may cause your drinks and sandwiches to get really hot--defeating the original purpose of the cooler. It was meant to hold canned drinks and ice, not your ass.
