Sept. 25, 2007

So, we are all continuing to stay busy. My nutty Chemistry professor has turned out to be tougher than I thought, so I am REALLY going to have to study my ass off in order to make a decent grade in that class. Beyond teaching Chemistry, he also enjoys giving brief lessons on life. I would like to pass some of his knowledge onto you now.
"Don't watch T.V. It has been taken over by liars and perverts."

We are still in the midst of football season, however Wes and Hunter are both currently in the middle of a 2 game suspension. Hunter was ejected from a game for fighting---although it was the other kid doing the fighting, and Hunter doing the defending. Wes is on suspension for telling the referee that he was a fuc*ing liar after he said Hunter hit the other kid.. Appparently, "fuc*ing" is not an acceptable adjective to use on the football field.

Hunter also began a really cool basketball program this weekend called PIPS. http://www.pipsyeah.com/info/pipinfo.htm
We found out about the group last year when they performed at halftime during the Harlem Globetrotters show. Hunter attended a 4 hour camp for the group on Sunday and had a blast.

Grace has been enjoying school. She had fun today wearing her poodle skirt for Sock Hop Day. She also still loves her dance class with Miss Donna and is now taking gymnastics at her school as well.

Wes is really enjoying being an assistant coach for Hunter's team. The kids really love him and respond well to his positive reinforcement. He also has been working his as* of lately and brought home his biggest check to date last Friday!! I am so proud of how far he has come in his professional life. He works so hard for us and I really appreciate it more than he will probably ever know.

Grace's First Day of School

Grace finally started school today. This will be her first time going without me since I taught at her school last year. However, I am now going to go to school on Tuesday's and Thursday's while she is at school, and then she and I will still have Mon., Wed., and Fri. together. Her new teachers are AWESOME and I am so excited for her. Miss Mindy is SUPER crafty and Grace just loves her. Her other teacher is really funny, but new to the school this year so it may take Grace some time to warm up to her. This week they are studying the letter "B" and the color blue so they were suppose to wear blue today. She gladly wore her custom Dorothy outfit from www.shopsusie.com and carried her new Wizard of Oz lunchbox.

Family Picture

Well, we rarely have a picture taken of all of us. In fact, it's usually me behind the lens. Today Hunter and Wes had team pictures, so Grace and I got dressed up in our Eagles gear too, and I had someone take a family picture of us. I honestly think it's perfect. Everyone's personality can be seen in this photo, especially Grace's. Oh and you can always double click on any picture to see a larger view of it.

My workout partner

So, I've decided to give working out one more try. For those of you that have known me my whole life, you know how skinny I once was. For those of you who have only known me as a mom (or rather Grace's mom), here is a pic of me from the "old days". I never worked out when I was young. I just had good genes. After Hunter and a good stomach bug, I got back down to a size 2. Well, I never lost all the weight I gained from Grace's pregnancy, then when I quit smoking in March I gained 25 pounds. ughhhhh..So, I realize I will never be a size 2 again. It's just not realistic with these hips. However, I would like to lose about 30 pounds. So, I popped in a DVD my friend gave me the other day and recruited Grace to be my workout partner. Well, she saw what the girl in the video was wearing and said she needed a bra too. So, she ran to her dress up trunk and pulled out 1/2 of her Little Mermaid costume. Perfect! She kept wanting to just watch the video and take water breaks, so I'm not sure how motivating of a partner she will be.

Labor Day Weekend

Well we kicked off the weekend with a pep rally for Hunter's team Friday night. The boys had a water gun fight with the drill team and we surprised the coaches with an attack of silly string. Grace had a blast dancing with the big girls and showing off her moves.

Then on Saturday was the game against the Mustangs. The Eagles won 6-0!!!! They were so excited. Pappaw and Wes had to give Hunter a little pep talk during the game after his team mates got upset at him for jumping offsides. He said he can handle the coaches being upset with him, but doesn't like when his team mates are. Once again Grace showed off her moves. I've included a video of her dancing on the bleachers at half time. You can see the drill team in the background as she copies their every move.

On Sunday we headed to a birthday party at the Natural History Museum. The kids were given a brief but detailed description of dinosaurs. Then they got to crack open "dinosaur eggs" and take home the plastic dinosaur that was inside. The final stop was inside one of the exhibits where they got to "dig" for dinosaur bones. It was in this sand that Grace who has been potty trained for a year without one single accident, decided to pee. YES!! In the sand!! SO as you enter there is a big old clump of wet sand. And if that wasn't bad enough, she then begins to strip and as I'm trying to keep her clothes on her she is screaming repeatedly, "I just want to take my skirt off!!" It was at that moment I was wishing I could bury myself in the sand like one of those bones. It was definitely a cool party though and the kids had a blast.
