Monkey Tits

So, Grace took a shower with me last night. And the following is the conversation we had while in there:
Grace: "Wow Mama! Your tummy is gettin' bigger, and bigger, and bigger!"

Me: "Really? I thought it was getting smaller with all the working out I've been doing."

Grace: "Nope Mama. Look at it (as she pokes my belly in and out with her finger.) See it's been gettin' bigger."

Then after the shower, I head to my room to get dressed. She comes in as I'm sittting on the bed, and touched my boob, then she starts up again with more "compliments".

Grace: "I just touched your boobie."

Me: "I know. You touched my nipple. You have nipples too Grace."

Grace: "Yeah, I have nipples Mama, but I don't have long boobs like those. When I grow up and get big, I will have long boobs like you."

Nice. Not big boobs, or perky boobs (hey I can wish can't I..), but LONG boobs. Maybe that's why my husband affectionately calls me monkey tits. What do you think?

We have a toilet with a flusher thing!!!

O-M-G!!! Who would have ever thought I would be so damn excited over a toilet? We are in the midst, well our friend Mel is in the midst, of remodeling our hall bathroom. Many of you have never been invited to our home b/c we have been so embarassed about our ghetto ass bathroom. Hell, that bathroom should have been featured in White Trash Wednesday. Anyways, it is coming along nicely. Now when people have to use our bathroom I won't have to say, "Ummm. Just let me know when you're done and I can flush it for you." I think it should all be done in another week or so. OH!! And guess what else. Not only do we have a new toilet and bathtub, BUT---are you ready for this??? I got a new broom!!! This may not be a big deal to most, but I have been using the same broom I bought a decade ago at The Dollar General in Wylie, Texas. I definitely got my money's worth out of that broom though, and can only hope my new Target broom does half the job my other broom did.

Our new toilet!! Jealous??

Now I need to give some shout outs! I had an awesome birthday thanks to my awesome hubby and friends. Wes surprised me by coming home with an icecream cake and a beautiful card. He couldn't find any candles, so he improvised. The cake kind of resembles something Johnny Depp might have had in the movie Blow if they had celebrated his birthday.

My friend Charis also brought me a special gift. Then later that evening, our friend Don (Derrick's dad and Shirley's husband) showed up with a dozen roses and a card for me. It was such a sweet gift from the Owens family. I also got a handful of phone calls, e-mails, and cards from friends as well as a giftcard from my in-laws to Kirkland's. It was a great birthday and I really feel blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life right now.

It's my birthday...

and I am clinging tight to my last year in my 20's. I joined a gym and am on my way to getting my waistline back. School is back in session and I'm taking my last developmental math course as well as Anatomy & Physiology II. Our bathroom renovations have FINALLY begun and our hall bathroom should be finished by next week. I am so stinkin' excited about that! Alright, I'm off to bake some cupcakes. Grace keeps telling me how much she loves cake and she's expecting to have some since it's my birthday.

Derrick's Mommy is having a baby...

Grace's best friend Derrick is going to be a big brother soon. Don and Shirley are expecting their 5th child any day now, but their first girl! I had the opportunity to take some pictures of Shirley and Derrick this week. We were limited on time and as most of you know I am not lucky enough to own an SLR yet, so these were taken with my point and shoot. I was pretty happy though with how they turned out and wanted to share. Remember you can double click on the photos to see them larger. I have also been invited to photograph the birth of Dakota. I am so excited about that.

Isn't Shirley beautiful? And Derrick, who had just woke from a nap, was so cooperative. And now for some out takes...

Look closely. Both of their tongues are sticking out.

The wind was insane.

Potty break

Pure joy.

White Trash Wednesday #6

So, it seems that WTW is beginning to gather a following, and some of you voiced your disappointment that I had no new post this week. I have not been carrying my camera around with me as much lately, so tonight I am going to share my favorite white trash story with you instead.

In 1998, before meeting Wes, I took a solo road trip down to Austin to visit some friends. I had a great time filled with plenty of partying. It was, however, on the drive home when I was unable to stop laughing from a white trash sighting. Perhaps it was the partying still in my system that made it so funny.

Anyways as I'm putting along down I-35 in my Mazda 323 (it was half of a 626--jealous??), I notice this big rig next to me. The big rig had a flat bed and was transporting a mobile home. Don't laugh yet. That's not the funny part. We've all seen this before. What was so damn funny was the HUGE banner across the side of it. It said, "Dream Home Being Delivered". Seriously? That's some one's dream home?? When you sat down and thought about if you had a million dollars and could live wherever you wanted, this is what you dreamed about...??? I have included an interpretive drawing of what I saw that day. I hope you all enjoy it.

Chillin' with friends

Last week we went and hung out with some friends that we hadn't seen in a while. Geneva, Ocean and Kobe hosted me and the kids, along with Vyvy, Sara, Jake, Willow and Mia. Vyvy brought some wine and anchovie chips to share. She tried convincing us that lots of people eat these things with wine. I think she is a liar, and I for one was unwilling to try them. When Grace saw them she stuck out her tongue and said, "Ewww! Dat's disduting!" The girls seemed to have a nice time playing and putting on make-up, and I definitely enjoyed the adult conversation. Ocean was cracking us all up with her strong willed personality and gorgeous locks of hair.

The anchovie chips--yes there are heads on these things.

White Trash Wednesday #5

Well, I've been meaning to post this pic, but have been so busy with all the holiday stuff. Anyways, I decided to make it my mission to be the star of WTW. So, what better opportunity than a X-Mas party with my girlfriends. They all showed up looking gorgeous, and me....Well, I hit my local Goodwill in search of the tackiest X-Mas attire I could find. I scored a pair of Jacylyn Smith velvet green pants with pockets from her "sports" line. I also grabbbed this snazzy sweatshirt. You'll notice that the cut of both items is none too flattering. Susan said the outfit reminded her of her Aunt Iva. I think that's her name. Anyways, apparently this aunt of hers pulled all her own teeth out with pliers b/c she thought going to the dentist was a waste of money. However, she did pay for some dr. to give her a facelift.
