Firemen and First Days

Last Monday, we joined a local playgroup for a tour of one of the Garland fire stations. The kids had a great time. Hunter was in awe of their X-Box 360 with 4 controllers. He only has 2 controllers. They showed us the trucks and one of the firemen put on his full gear for the kids to see. Then he let a few of them try on his jacket.

Fast forward now to this week. On Sunday, Hunter performed at his first piano recital. He played a song called "I've Been Wishin". He did really well, especially considering he was the first kid to have to perform.

Then on Monday, it was time to head back to school. Hunter is in Mrs. Hensley's 2nd grade class. He is totally a veteran now and really didn't think much about the first day. He was excited to take his new backpack and he said his teacher was nice. Oh! And he was excited to walk in and find one of his football team mates in his class.

The next morning Hunter took my picture with Wes as I headed back to school too. I'm taking Chemistry and Developmental Psychology this semester.

Friends & Football

Well, after this weekend, I have come to the realization that our lives will be fully consumed by football for the next 10 weeks. Hunter had his first game on Saturday against the Steelers. They lost 13-o, but he had a great time and gave it everything he had. I stayed up until 11:00 on Friday night with another mom making a sign for the boys to run through.
Hunter's game started at 9:45, but we had to be at the field at 8:45 for warm-up. We ended up staying to watch the "D" and "C" teams as well, which didn't put us home until around 3:00 pm. I was so exhausted and sunburned, but it was really fun to spend the entire day with my family. Grace had a blast cheering for Hunter and the other boys.

Next week we play the Panthers at 9:45 on Saturday, then on Sunday Hunter has his first piano recital at Eastfield. I am really excited about this. He really enjoys piano, but it doesn't come as easy to him as schoolwork or sports, so I enjoy seeing him work through the challenge of learning how to play and read music. We are currently in search of a full sized keyboard or piano for our home. I'm going to end this post with a few more pics from Saturday's game. One of these days I'm going to have Wes take a picture with me in it. LOL!

The Spraygrounds

This Summer we have spent a lot of time at Harry Meyers park in Rockwall. Hunter has to get an allergy shot once a week in Rockwall so it just makes sense to go have some fun in the sun while we're out there. Mesquite has nothing like this. Hunter's friend Brendan had spent the night and so he joined us. We also met up with some of my friends from http://www.dallasareamoms.com/. Grace and Ashlyn have played together before and really enjoyed each others company yesterday. Ashlyn's daddy works with Wes at Verizon and her mommy is a local photographer (http://www.christinebrooksphotography.com/), and total goofball, just like myself.

These snapshots were taken by Christine:

And here are a few pics that I took:

Go Cowboys!!!

A little background here folks. For those of you that don't know, I was born in Dallas, Texas in 1979. I've lived here my entire life. I am a true Texan and a true Dallasite. As a child I had the same dream as many of my fellow Dallasite friends... Some day I would be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader and marry Troy Aikman or one of his friends. Okay so fast forward to this past Thursday. I had the opportunity to join my son on a tour of Texas Stadium. I was so excited to get to go on the field where "the boys", as I like to call them, play..Not only that, but in 2 years this stadium will be gone, as a new one is in the process of being built. It was so cool to see Hunter out on that field playing football. He thought it was cool and fun, but I don't think he had any idea just how COOL it was. I hope someday he really gets it. My dad would have LOVED these pictures. He also would have been SUPER jealous to know that as we were leaving I met the great Cahrlie Waters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Waters, who was so nice and kindly gave me his autograph. Oh, and I almost forgot. Hunter answered our tour guides question correct in the locker room, so his prize was to be able to put on Tony Romo's uniform! How cool is that?
