Playing Catch Up

I am done with school for this semester!! I am so happy to have a break. I won't have any classes until after the 4th of July. So, that means that hopefully I can get caught back up in other ares of my life; blogging, cleaning, etc...

I was able to take a break from studying last weekend to have some fun with friends and family. I already posted about the great Mom's Night Out. I now have pics of me with "Dancing Bob". So last Saturday, Wes, Hunter and Wes' dad were in a fishing tournament out at Lake Ray Hubbard. They didn't catch a single fish, but they had a great time hanging out with each other, and came home with some cool prizes. Hunter was excited to be the only one in the group to get a bite. A turtle, clearly unaware that they were fishing for crappie, got his minnow. While they were at the tournament, Grace and I headed to the White Rock Lake Festival. We met up with my friend Donna there, as well as my friend's Jake and Lea. By some crazy coincidence the same band that had been playing at my MNO, on Friday was also playing at the festival. It was the perfect day to hang out by the lake and listen to good music--and of course jump in bounce houses.

On Sunday, the whole family headed back to the festival. Wes had a pretty bad sunburn and was fairly miserable. Our air conditioning loving dog was also pretty unhappy. We got to see a few friends there, but didn't stay very long.

I was gone a lot of this week studying for my final exams. Thank you to all of my friends that helped out by watching Grace and either taking or picking her up from school for me. It was a HUGE help and I appreciate each and every one of you.

One funny thing from this week was when Wes noticed that one of Romo's paws was hot pink. He asked Grace if she had colored it and she said, "No. He must have got into my markers." Here are some pics. He was very embarrassed about it, and kept trying to hide his paw under his head while I took the pics.

In other news, as I was beginning to take a sigh of relief and relax a bit after my finals, I got a call from my friend Susan to ask if I would be interested in being the treasurer for the Eagle's drill team. After very little thought, and consulting with my husband, I accepted the position. I already have a pretty full plate, but I just love the Eagle's organization and want to help out in anyway that I can. She has promised to help me with this task, and I'm just hoping that I can live up to their expectations. I will have a lot to do in the beginning as the organization has 4 different drill teams, and probably close to 100 girls. So, wish me luck..

Girl's Night Out

Oh my gosh! I had a freaking blast last night. I went out with a group of my girlfriend's to a restaraunt in Dallas called Obzeet's. It was a beautiful night to sit out on the patio. They had a live band playing, and the best part was when my friend Donna got up and sang "Bobby Magee" with the band. I also won a free necklace from Lindsay http://lusciouslinzcreations.blogspot.com/ for dancing with the creepy old guy who was doing his own version of interpretive dance. Tuesday, April, 15, 2008: Hunter had his first school performance. The kids sang early American songs, and danced. He did a great job. He was really feeling it up there and I received several comments later about his great sense of rhythm.




Friday, April, 18, 2008: Daddy decided to take the day off work to have a fun family day. We let Hunter skip school and headed to the Dallas Zoo. Grace's best buddy (and on again off again boyfriend) Derrick came with us. He had never been to the zoo and had a blast.

Later that evening we went to watch Hunter's friends, Jake and Troy play baseball. They were both on Hunter's football team this past year, and we have since become great friend's with both families. The Owens family also came to the game and we ended up hanging out with them afterwards. There were a few other Eagle's families there that night as well to support the boys. I really love being a part of that organization and the sense of community that it has established for us and our children.

Saturday, April, 19, 2008: We got up early Saturday morning and headed to Plano to celebrate Yossarian's 2nd birthday. On the way there, we stopped to pick up my friend's son Gabriel so he could ride with us. I had never met him before. He is seven and totally cracked me up with his eagerness to educate me on the ride there. He told me the average number of trees that each American goes through in a year, and what that total amount comes to nationwide, and how many houses we could build with the 50% of products that are not recycled. It was all very interesting and clearly my memory is not near as god as his, as I am unable to give you any of those statistics now. LOL! It's a lot though, so recycle your shit people! The party was a lot of fun. I got to see a bunch of my girlfriends and both of my kids had fun hanging out over there.

Sunday, April, 20, 2008: I met the Brown family at a local park to take family pictures for them. This is another family that we met through the Eagles organization. We took some pics at City Lake Park, then headed to a field of bluebonnets for the rest of the shoot. They are a really sweet family and I look forward to hearing about their future adventures. They are moving to Italy in July where Marlin has taken a job. They plan on being there for the next 3-5 years.
