Crazy Spirit & The Arboretum
Saturday, the Eagles played the Jaguars, a dirty, dirty team...Charis, our team mom, suggested that we show up with some crazy spirit for the game. So, we did just that. It was a blast. Here are some pics of us looking ridiculous. Hunter's team, the "E" team lost, but as usual our "C" team kicked butt. This was also Wes and Hunter's last day of suspension, so they are both looking forward to getting back in the game.

Sunday started off pretty slow, just hanging around the house and watching football. Then Sunday evening our friends Rosa and Mael invited us and some other friends over for dinner and drinks. The kids swam and played video games. Their son plays football on Hunter's team, and goes to Hunter's school. It is sooo nice to finally be making friends with people that live in our neighborhood that we can hang out with as a family. Then, today was Fair Day so Hunter was out of school. Instead of going to the fair, we headed to the Dallas Arboretum to get some pics in the pumpkin patch, visit the petting zoo and let the kids get their faces painted. We didn't stay as long as we normally do because it is still so freakin' hot here. After the arboretum, Hunter decided he wanted his haircut. Unfortunately, during the haircut I could see "cutter's remorse" settting in. By the time we got to the car he was in tears over his new haircut. I felt so bad for him, b/c I have been there before. The good news is that it will grow back. So, we headed to McDonald's for some Happy Meals and icecream which seemed to help, then it was off to dance class for Grace.

"Don't watch T.V. It has been taken over by liars and perverts."
We are still in the midst of football season, however Wes and Hunter are both currently in the middle of a 2 game suspension. Hunter was ejected from a game for fighting---although it was the other kid doing the fighting, and Hunter doing the defending. Wes is on suspension for telling the referee that he was a fuc*ing liar after he said Hunter hit the other kid.. Appparently, "fuc*ing" is not an acceptable adjective to use on the football field.
Hunter also began a really cool basketball program this weekend called PIPS. http://www.pipsyeah.com/info/pipinfo.htm
We found out about the group last year when they performed at halftime during the Harlem Globetrotters show. Hunter attended a 4 hour camp for the group on Sunday and had a blast.
Grace has been enjoying school. She had fun today wearing her poodle skirt for Sock Hop Day. She also still loves her dance class with Miss Donna and is now taking gymnastics at her school as well.
Wes is really enjoying being an assistant coach for Hunter's team. The kids really love him and respond well to his positive reinforcement. He also has been working his as* of lately and brought home his biggest check to date last Friday!! I am so proud of how far he has come in his professional life. He works so hard for us and I really appreciate it more than he will probably ever know.

My workout partner
So, I've decided to give working out one more try. For those of you that have known me my whole life, you know how skinny I once was. For those of you who have only known me as a mom (or rather Grace's mom), here is a pic of me from the "old days". I never worked out when I was young. I just had good genes. After Hunter and a good stomach bug, I got back down to a size 2. Well, I never lost all the weight I gained from Grace's pregnancy, then when I quit smoking in March I gained 25 pounds. ughhhhh..So, I realize I will never be a size 2 again. It's just not realistic with these hips. However, I would like to lose about 30 pounds. So, I popped in a DVD my friend gave me the other day and recruited Grace to be my workout partner. Well, she saw what the girl in the video was wearing and said she needed a bra too. So, she ran to her dress up trunk and pulled out 1/2 of her Little Mermaid costume. Perfect! She kept wanting to just watch the video and take water breaks, so I'm not sure how motivating of a partner she will be.

Labor Day Weekend
Then on Saturday was the game against the Mustangs. The Eagles won 6-0!!!! They were so excited. Pappaw and Wes had to give Hunter a little pep talk during the game after his team mates got upset at him for jumping offsides. He said he can handle the coaches being upset with him, but doesn't like when his team mates are. Once again Grace showed off her moves. I've included a video of her dancing on the bleachers at half time. You can see the drill team in the background as she copies their every move.
On Sunday we headed to a birthday party at the Natural History Museum. The kids were given a brief but detailed description of dinosaurs. Then they got to crack open "dinosaur eggs" and take home the plastic dinosaur that was inside. The final stop was inside one of the exhibits where they got to "dig" for dinosaur bones. It was in this sand that Grace who has been potty trained for a year without one single accident, decided to pee. YES!! In the sand!! SO as you enter there is a big old clump of wet sand. And if that wasn't bad enough, she then begins to strip and as I'm trying to keep her clothes on her she is screaming repeatedly, "I just want to take my skirt off!!" It was at that moment I was wishing I could bury myself in the sand like one of those bones. It was definitely a cool party though and the kids had a blast.
